Frequently Asked Questions

  • What precautions are in place to minimise potential transmission of COVID-19?

We are following the Ministry of Health guidelines and are keeping a close eye on the latest advice and will alert the public if anything changes. If you feel unwell, we ask you to stay home or seek medical attention. We will provide on-site hand sanitation stations, ample rubbish collection, and a central first aid hub.

  • Is there an entry fee?

Entry to the Airbase is by koha – meaning give what you can. There will be collection buckets on entry – all proceeds taken at the entry go to Life Flight. There will also be opportunities throughout the event to donate if you wish, and cash facilities available once inside.

  • What seating is available?

There will be ample seating available, as well as indoor seating in one of three hangars.

  • How should I get to the airbase?

The Life Flight Airbase is at 17 George Bolt Street, Rongotai, Wellington (behind the Warehouse Lyall Bay). There is free parking nearby, however we do expect up to 5,000 attendees on the day. Alternatively, you can take the number 3 bus – station Airport Retail Park (opposite).

  • Is it an accessible venue?

Life Flight is committed to providing an accessible and welcoming experience for attendees with specific requirements or additional needs, including an accessible bathroom. If you need assistance on the day, please seek out one of the friendly team who will be in high-vis.

  • Is it a family friendly event?

Absolutely! Life Flight prides itself on creating a fun family friendly atmosphere, geared at all ages and demographics. There are activities for kids of all ages as well as facilities for parents with young children (breastfeeding room and changing stations).

  • What if it rains?

The event will still take place in rainy conditions as a majority of the entertainment and food will be undercover in our hangers. However, a cyclone or major weather event may cause disruptions so keep an eye on our event page.

  • Reducing waste at Open Day

Life Flight are committed to reducing waste at Open Day. We encourage all attendees to bring their own water bottles and reusable cups – there will be several water refill stations available. We will provide rubbish and recycling stations around the event and will be working with stallholders to reduce the volume of problematic packaging and materials brought into Open Day.
