Given the recent cases of COVID-19 community transmission, and following advice from our medical partners, we have come to the conclusion that it is simply not feasible for us to safely host several thousand people at our airbase.

Greetings from everyone here at the Life Flight base.

I regret to inform you that we’ve decided to cancel our upcoming Life Flight Open Day for 2021 which was due to take place on Sunday 14th March.

Our Open Day usually brings together thousands of Life Flight supporters from around the region. However, given the recent cases of COVID-19 community transmission, and following advice from our medical partners, we have come to the conclusion that it is simply not feasible for us to safely host several thousand people at our airbase given the ongoing situation.

While we are disappointed that we won’t be able to thank you for your continued support in person, we have no doubt that this is the right decision, given the current circumstances, to help keep our community safe.

I would like to extend my warmest appreciation to everyone who was involved in our preparations for Open Day this year including volunteers, community partners, and our friends at other emergency services.

With some increased uncertainty over the coming days and weeks, I also want to reassure you that Life Flight’s emergency aeromedical services remain fully operational 24/7 thanks to your fantastic ongoing support.

We hope to be able to re-launch our event fundraising activity in the near future, and look forward to hosting you here again at the Life Flight base as soon as we can.

All the very best,

Mark Johnston
