"We were told … that he may not survive" - Chris, Arlo's dad
During pregnancy, a scan revealed that Arlo had an extremely rare and serious condition called ‘Prune Belly’.
Arlo’s dad Chris explains,
“Prune belly syndrome happens when urine can’t leave the bladder due to blockages. Even before he was born, we were told that we should be prepared for the possibility that he may not survive the birth.”
But little Arlo proved to be a fighter from day one. You see, doctors had also warned Arlo’s parents Chris and Leanne that he wouldn’t cry at birth … so when they heard Arlo’s little ‘wah!’ in the delivery room, it felt like an absolute miracle.
Even so, he was still in a desperate fight for his life – and it became increasingly clear over the next few days that he needed more specialised care than his local hospital could provide.
Thankfully, generous people like you sent him straight to Starship Hospital in Auckland on a Life Flight Air Ambulance Plane – saving crucial time for this vulnerable little baby.
As Chris says,
Without support services like Life Flight, families like ours wouldn’t cope.
“Thank you for supporting Life Flight and helping make these flights possible for children like Arlo and their families. Your generosity really does make a difference.
This Christmas you can help save the life (and future) of another child like Arlo. Please, will you donate now?
