You've given David more time with his family
Time was critical when paramedics arrived at David’s home. Your support meant he got to hospital when minutes mattered.
Former doctor David experienced a role switch when his wife called ‘111’ as he was having persistent chest pain.
“I was clearly aware that I needed to get to a hospital quickly. So I was really pleased the paramedic said they would send for a helicopter.”
David was flown in our Westpac Chopper from Paraparaumu to Wellington Hospital in time for life-saving surgery.
A stent was inserted to the 100% blocked artery. It was an eye-opening experience for David. He had witnessed this kind of procedure being performed several times before. And he had felt sure this wouldn’t happen to him.
I’m a healthy guy. I live a healthy lifestyle. I considered myself a poster boy for how not to have a heart attack.
It’s thanks to your wonderful donations that David is here today.
“These are amazing worldclass services that Wellington’s surrounding residents need to be aware are top of the line. When you need them, you need them, and they are there for you. They should be supported rigorously.”
