Westpac Rescue Helicopter Winched a Injured man off of Castlepoint in the Wairarapa

The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Castlepoint on the Wairarapa Coast today at 11:30 am the 14th Mar 10.

A 37yr old male from Wellington had fallen approximately 1m while walking around Castle Point injuring his ankle.

The Westpac Helicopter responded with a Wellington Free Helicopter Paramedic onboard.

The patient was located on the rocks and due to his location he was unable to be carried to the beach where the helicopter was able to land.

The Paramedic was then winched down and assessed the patient.

The Paramedic and patient were winched back into the helicopter and then flown back to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where he is being treated for his injuries.
