Westpac Rescue Helicopter transports man from D'Urville Island

The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was call today at 11:30am the 1st Jan 10 to Catherine Cove on D'Urville Island in the Marlborough Sound.

A 45yr old male from the Nelson Region sustained facial injuries from a fall during the early hours of New Years Day.

The Helicopter with a Wellington Free Ambulance Helicopter Paramedic on board responded to D'Urville Island.

The Helicopter was able to land next to the Resort in Catherine Cove a short distance from the location of the patient.

After being assessed by the Paramedic the patient was then flown to Nelson Hospital Emergency Department where he is being assessed and treated for his injuries.
