Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter transports man from Matiu/Somes Island

The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported an unwell man from Matiu/Somes Island this afternoon
The helicopter was called to the Island just after midday today and responded with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic onboard.
The patient was a 76 year old Stokes Valley man, who had collapsed while walking one of the island tracks. DOC staff assisted with transporting the helicopter crew and the patient.
The patient was flown to Wellington Hospital emergency department where he is being further assessed and treated.
