Wellington Westpac Rescue Helicopter transports Patient from a Motor vehicle Accident in Pukerua Bay North of Wellington

The Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported a female from a Motor Vehicle accident in Pukerua Bay at 11:30pm the 21st Feb 10.
 
The 47yr old Female Palmerston North was a front Seat passenger in the vehicle and was trapped in the vehicle that was heading North. A Vehicle heading south crossed the centre line.
 
The patient was trapped for some time before the Fire Service and Wellington Free Ambulance Staff were able to cut her from the vehicle.
 
The Helicopter with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic on board responded to the location but due to the location of the accident had to land approximately 2km from the crash site.  Once the patient was cut from the vehicle and treated by the Paramedics on scene she was then transported to the waiting Helicopter by Ambulance.
 
The patient suffered several fractures to both legs and also chest and stomach injuries.
 
She was flown to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where she is being treated for her injuries.
 
There were five other patients transported to hospital via ambulance from the same crash.
