Wellington Westpac Rescue Helicopter transports a Motor Cycle Accident patient from Wainuiomata

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called this evening the 5th Sept 09 at 10:45pm to a motor cycle accident on the Coast Rd in Wainuiomata.

A 22yr old male from Wainuiomata had been riding home with his brother as the passenger when the bike went off the road down a bank.

The two brothers then spent three hours down the bank unable to get to the road due to there injuries.  Both brothers were suffering from serious leg injuries.

 A local farmer and his daughter happened to be riding past and heard the two brothers calling out and contacted the emergency services. They were luck to be found as the temperature was dropping and they were not equipped to spend the night outside.

The driver of the bike was flown to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where he is being treated for his leg injuries.

A Wellington Free Paramedic from the crash scene flew in the Helicopter with the patient. 

The passenger of the bike was still being treated at the scene.
