Wellington Westpac Rescue Helicopter called to two different Cases in Marlborough region

The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was call today at 12:00am 9th Nov, to attend a mountain bike accident in Waitaria Bay Marlborough Sounds.

The Patient was a 51yr old female from Totaranui, she was seen by fellow bikes to fall off the bike and down a near by bank. She suffered a Facial and back injuries.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Responded to the scene with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic on board and were able to land at the location to treat the patient. She was then stabilized and transported to Wairau Hospital emergency Department in Blenheim for further assessment and treatment.

The patients fellow cyclists and friends did a wonderful job at treating her wounds and calling for the helicopter.

The patient is currently being accessed for possible back and face injuries.

While at the Wairau Hospital the Westpac Rescue Helicopter got called to another accident, this time near Renwick, to a motorcyclist whom had landed awkwardly while doing motorcross.

A Road Ambulance was also dispatched and located at the incident at the same time as the helicopter.

This Patient was a 23 yr old male and he suffered from facial and back injuries also, He was transported by Westpac Helicopter to Wairau Emergency Department and is undergoing assessment currently.
