Wellington Westpac Rescue Helicopter called to injured moutain biker on rimutaka incline

The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to injured mountain biker on the Rimutaka Incline today 1st Jan 2009 at approximately 6:00pm. The patient is a 58 yr old female whom had hit the side of the tunnel while biking downhill and dislocated her shoulder and hurt her leg.
The helicopter was able to locate the person on the track but was unable to initially land. The Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic was able to be hovered close enough to the track to unload from the helicopter and then go and assess the patient
The helicopter was then able to find a location near by to land . The patient was able to be transported by a 4wd Vehicle to the helicopter and then she was transported to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where she is currently in a stable condition.
The patient is still currently being assessed at Wellngton Public Hospital Emergency Department
