Wellington Based Winched a Tramper from the Tararua Ranges
Sun 04/10/2009 15:27The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called today 4 Oct 09 at 9:00am to a tramper injured in the hills behind Levin in the Tararua Ranges.
A 33yr old male from Paraparaumu had been tramping when he fell and injured his leg.
The Helicopter responded to the trampers location with a Specially Trained Wellington Free Paramedic onboard. The Search and Rescue Police Team on scene were able to give the mans exact location which meant we could fly directly to them.
Once located the Paramedic was winched down to the patient.
The paramedic and patient were winched back into the helicopter and the flown back to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where he is being treated for his injuries.
