Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter called to an Injured tramper on Mana Island

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called today 4th April 09 at 1pm to a tramping accident on Mana island The tramper was a 43yr old female from Paekakariki.
The tramper had fallen while out walking on rocks on Mana island.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter responded with a Wellington Free Paramedic onboard. The Helicopter was able to land a short distance from the injured tramper who had been assisted by the DOC island staff to the local buildings on the islandnear the helicopter pad.
The patient was flown back to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where she is being assessed for lower back injuries.
