Two rescue helicopers attend crash scene just north of Pekapeka SH1

The Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called last night just about 10:30pm, to attend a serious car accident just north of the Pekapeka Turn off on State highway one.
The Square Trust helicopter also responded from Palmerston North to the scene to assist ambulance services with the multiple patients.
The Wellington Westpac Rescue helicopter transported one of the patients with two Wellington Free Paramedics on board back to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department.
The patient that we transported was a 19yr old female with serious head and leg injuries and she was in the hospital just before midnight.
The other patient was also transported by the other rescue helicopter to Wellington Emergency Department and was thought to be in a similar serious condition.
Both patients were still being assessed last night for their serious injuries but were thought to be stable.
