The Life Flight Trust transports an Accident patient from the Wairau Valley near Blenheim

24/09/2011 1530 hours

At 3:30 pm this afternoon the Life Flight Trust transported a Accident Patient from the Wairau Valley south of Blenheim.

Life Flight responded with a Wellington Free Paramedic on board the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The female patient had been participating in a multi sport event when she fell off her Mountain Bike injuring her right shoulder, arm and hip. She was treated at the scene by the local St John Ambulance crew. The Helicopter was able to land in a nearby paddock.

The patient a 40yr old female from Paraparaumu was flown to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where she is being further assessed and treated for her injuries.


The Life Flight Trust is a charity providing air rescue and air ambulance services. It operates the Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a national air ambulance service.
