Teenager taken to hospital by helicopter after falling from a motorcycle

The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter has transported a 13 year old Upper Hutt boy to hospital this evening after he fell from his motorcycle and tumbled approximately 5 meters down a bank, while riding on the family property.

The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, was called to Upper Hutt at approximately 6.20pm this evening and was able to land close to the accident scene.

The injured boy was treated at the scene for leg injuries and is currently in Wellington Hospital Emergency Department, where he is being further assessed and treated for his injuries.
