Peter Button receives the Queen’s Medal for Gallantry
Peter Button receives the Queen's Medal for Gallantry and his son Clive is recognised with a Queen's Commendation for bravery for their part in the ‘Lady Liz' rescue.
Tragedy strikes on 20 November when Wellington loses one of its favourite sons. While assisting the Police in the pursuit of an escaped prisoner, Peter Button clips a high-tension power cable and loses his life, along with two other passengers aboard the helicopter.
