Medical Teams
Paramedics:
The Wellington Free Ambulance intensive care paramedics play a crucial role in rescue missions in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. Their job can include things like being winched out of the chopper to treat a person stuck on a cliff-face, and providing life-saving care while a patient is flown to hospital.Flight Nurses and Doctors:
This team is highly skilled in aviation medicine and is responsible for patient care during air ambulance missions. Whether they are helping a neonatal baby in a purpose-built incubator or a cardiac patient, these people work in a challenging environment. They are required to undergo specialist aero-medical training before joining our team to ensure the highest level of care is provided to our patients when they need it most.
