Leave a gift in your Will

If you share the vision of ensuring the community has a life-saving air rescue and air ambulance service, you can make a gift beyond your lifetime by leaving a lasting legacy.

Writing a Will is the most powerful way to ensure your friends and family are cared for after you are no longer there for them. In addition, leaving a legacy is a wonderful way to ensure your charity of choice is here for generations to come.

Let us briefly walk you through the process of arranging a bequest:

First you must choose a solicitor. The Public Trust can prepare your Will at no cost. You then need to decide who is to benefit from your Will.

After this, your solicitor can help you put your wishes into words. A bequest of a specific sum is of course very welcome; however, inflation often erodes the value. To ensure the intention behind the gift is protected against inflation, it is best to express the bequest as a percentage of the estate. If you wish to gift a specific item, it is important to describe that item clearly.

The recommended wording for a bequest to Life Flight is:
“I give to the Life Flight Trust, at PO Box 14448 Kilbirnie, Wellington 6241 [insert X% of my estate, or the residue of my estate, or sum of money, or description of property or assets] for general purposes, for which the receipt of the General Manager or other proper officer shall be full and sufficient discharge to my trustees.”

If you already have a Will but want to alter it to leave a bequest, you can simply make an amendment. This is called a codicil and can easily be arranged by your solicitor.

Once your bequest is in place, please do let us know as we would like to acknowledge your generosity personally and it helps us ensure we can plan for the future.

Thank you for helping ensure our team can be there to respond to emergencies 24/7, now and into the future.
