Injured quad bike rider airlifted from Marlborough Sounds

The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter has just returned from a rescue in the Marlborough Sounds.

The helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance paramedic onboard, was called to Endeavour Inlet following a quad bike accident.

Upon arriving at the scene the paramedic was winched to the scene, in the hills behind a private home. The paramedic found a 62 year old Endeavour Inlet man who was suffering from a leg injury following the accident.

The man was winched into the helicopter and flown to Wairau Hospital in Blenheim for treatment. He is expected to be released later today.
