Helicopter Engine Upgrade

Westpac Heli at Omaka

In 2010 Life Flight upgraded its Westpac Rescue Helicopter with two 850 horsepower engines. This makes it one of the most capable rescue helicopters in the country.

The engine upgrade ensures the helicopter meets CAA regulations and people throughout Life Flight's rescue region can be flown directly to all hospital helipads, including Wellington, Masterton, Nelson and Blenheim. Prior to the upgrade we would not have been permitted to land at these helipads in many situations.
