The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter provides air rescue services to the greater Wellington region (Wellington, Porirua, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Kapiti, Wairarapa and the Marlborough region of the South Island).
Life Flight also provides air rescue services many kilometres from shore. Our helicopter has been to and beyond the Chatham Islands, which are 760km from Wellington, several times.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter also responds for critically ill patient
transfers to New Plymouth, Wanganui, Nelson and Christchurch
Hospitals.
